TITLE: Exceptional Education Technology Aide
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or background in education preferred
REPORTS TO: Principal
STANDARDS AND QUALITY ASSURANCE:
- Extensive/daily use of computers; Windows 10; touch screen devices (iPads/tablets
- Be capable of physically assisting students with special needs (positioning lifting, transferring, toileting, etc.)
- Have demonstrated ability to work effectively under the direction of others
- Have demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others
- Attend staff and team meetings
- Willingness to learn and attend ongoing trainings provided by the district for the assigned student’s AT device/tool as well as any other district approved software (Boardmaker, ULS, switch or eye gaze accessible software etc).
- Have the ability to be flexible, proactive, and creative in finding solutions for inclusive participation in classroom activities for assigned student/user of AT.
- Speak, dress, and conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times
- All other duties as assigned
TEACHING AND LEARNING:
- Provide support for individual students throughout all school environments to enable them to fully participate in school/classroom activities with the use of the student’s assistive technology device/or support tool.
- Execute daily expected and unexpected adaptations and modifications needed for student to participate in classroom activities with the use of the students assistive technology device/or support tool.
- Assist in the educational and social development of assigned student under the direction and guidance of the facilitator/case manager and classroom teachers.
- Work with and follow the direction of other professionals such as assistive technology consultant, speech therapist, occupational therapist, and physical therapist.
- Modify and adapt lessons and activities in the classroom to be uploaded to the student's output device so they can participate in the same activities as their peers.
- Assist classroom teachers with maintaining student data records.
WEEKLY DUTIES:
- Attend grade level/subject/classroom planning meetings with mainstream classroom teacher.
- During and after planning meetings, use teacher lesson plans to program assistive technology adaptations using district approved software (Boardmaker, ULS, switch or eye gaze accessible software etc).
- Implement weekly adaptations using district approved software (Boardmaker, ULS, switch or eye gaze accessible software etc) along with the student’s assistive technology device/tool.
- Assist in the preparation and display of student work; supply mainstream classroom data to case manager.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190-day contract. CA20 salary scale with $5,000 stipend. Salary and work year to be established by the district.
