General Description: This position is responsible for leading a strategy to cultivate a robust environment that engages teens (ages 13-22) in social emotional awareness, workforce & career development, college prep and leadership skill building. In this capacity, the Teen/Special Events Coordinator is responsible for planning, hosting and communicating with stakeholders to execute program workshops and events for teens, along with ensuring steady enrollment for the teen program throughout the school year & summer months.

The Teen/ Special Events Coordinator will work to maintain and enhance collaborative partnership relations in the community. This role will serve as a role model for enrolled youth in both academic and enrichment activities, and assume primary responsibility for monitoring teen programming, as they support and assist youth in an effort to reach their highest potential. We do collect and report data, on the program, as required for our Grant reporting.

This role also supports the Center Leadership Team by helping to plan and execute special projects & events, not limited to, but more specifically projects & events that pertain directly to school-aged program partnerships.
 

Education & Experience:

Minimum level AA degree, Bachelors' preferred. CDA requirements, preferably some knowledge of Social Services. Three years' experience in childcare/ teen programs with children ages thirteen to nineteen.



Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
30 hours Child Care Worker DCF Certification
10 hours Developmentally Appropriate Practices DCF course 20 hours of annual in-service training
CPR I First Aid Certification
Staff Credential / Director Credential (Preferred) Bus Drivers license (Preferred, but not required))

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop curriculum appropriate for School Age Children using a yearly curriculum guide and age­ appropriate activities with input from school-age participants.
  2. Oversees teen recruitment, enrollment, attendance and communication throughout the school year and summer months.
  3. Promotes the Teen Program at community events, and high school/college open houses.
  4. Represents the agency at grant related agency meetings.
  5. Plan and post weekly/monthly lesson plans & workshops for Teen Program (including indoor and outdoor activities.
  6. Complete and post monthly calendar for Teen Program.
  7. Provide teens with support via resources related to skill building, volunteer opportunities, career exploration and post-secondary education.
  8. Maintain regular communication with parents regarding program changes, student behaviors and other pertinent program related information.
  9. Maintain on-site schedules and updated logs for teen volunteer hours and prepare monthly contractually required reports.
  10. Provides documents for service hours and recommendation letters as needed.
  11. Drive teens to and from any planned off-site field trips, workshops or events, using teen van.
  12. Work in cooperation with the OST Director to maintain an established standard of compliance with developmentally appropriate practices such as, PrimeTime, etc.
  13. Work collaboratively with OST Team (Aftercare & Summer Camp Leadership) to ensure program quality, fluidity between programs and proper program coverage as needed.
  14. Participate in OST leadership & planning meetings as needed.
  15. Assist Center Leadership team with support on special projects & events as needed.
  16. Provide guidance and understanding to develop a sense of self-worth and respect in each child by using discipline techniques found in the Staff Manual
  17. Maintain an annual supply of school-age materials, supplies and equipment necessary to carry out an effective program.
 
  1. Provide check requests and /or purchase order forms for field trips, arts and crafts supplies, sporting equipment, etc.
  2. Perform monitoring of off campus field trips.
  3. Utilize all required agency data systems to accurately track and maintain comprehensive program data. This includes collecting and reporting all performance metrics, demographic (census) information, and other key data necessary for grant compliance and programmatic reporting. Regularly monitor program deliverables and outcomes, using data analysis to recommend and implement adjustments to ensure goals and grant objectives are being met Perform required computer programs proficiently.
  4. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals or technical procedures written in English, the ability to type reports and business correspondence in English, and the ability to effectively communicate in English.
  5. Maintains strict confidentiality at all times, including the ability to recognize situations in which extra care with sensitive information is required.
  6. Attends all workshops and meetings as deemed necessary by the supervisor
  7. Attends all required staff and parent meetings and activities.
  8. Maintains valid driver's license and insurance coverage at all times.
  9. Performs First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as needed.
  10. Performs other related duties as required.

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift (In-person, no remote)

  • Monday to Friday
