A Day in the Life of a Flooring Sales Consultant

As the face of our company, Flooring Sales Consultants play a vital role in guiding customers through their flooring projects. Daily responsibilities include:

• Greeting customers and consulting with them on flooring options that fit their lifestyle, design preferences, and budget.
• Scheduling in-home measurements and coordinating installation.
• Preparing quotes, reviewing blueprints, and assisting with projects ranging from small remodels to large renovations.
• Answering customer questions in person and over the phone.
• Maintaining store displays and overall showroom appearance.
• Participating in ongoing training and product education.
• Assisting with store events and promotions.

This fast-paced role requires strong communication skills, but it is also highly rewarding—many consultants build lasting relationships with customers while helping them achieve their dream homes.

Requirements & Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who are energetic, friendly, and eager to learn. Sales experience is helpful but not required, as we provide hands-on training to help you grow your skills and succeed.

Qualifications include:

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to assist customers with product selection, design, and purchase.
• Goal-oriented mindset.
• High school diploma (or equivalent).
• Availability to work a fixed schedule, including days, evenings, Saturdays, and some holidays.
• Professional, polite, and considerate manner with both customers and coworkers.
• Basic reading, math, writing, and communication abilities.
• Commitment to ethical professional standards.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Compensation & Benefits

Our pay structure is designed so that sales consultants performing at the national average can expect to earn $50,000 per year.

Schedule

• Store hours: Monday – Saturday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• 8 hour shifts
• Two days off per week, including every Sunday
• Work required on some holidays (closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day)

• Primary workplace: Floor & Home Carpet One, 2222 Mt. Rushmore Rd, Rapid City, SD
• In-home measurements and estimating are part of the role; a company vehicle is provided for customer visits.
