Job Overview
Flood Medics is an established water mitigation and restoration company dedicated to providing fast, professional emergency response and property restoration services to residential and commercial clients. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Water Mitigation Project Lead to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will travel to potential customer locations and active job sites to conduct thorough assessments, develop detailed scopes of work, determine necessary mitigation strategies, and effectively promote services to secure customer approval and job initiation. You will also lead job starts by collaborating with technicians to plan and execute mitigation efforts, clearly explain processes to customers, and perform quality control checks throughout projects to ensure exceptional results and customer satisfaction. This position combines technical expertise, leadership, and strong customer service skills in a fast-paced, on-call environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and travel to job sites (residential/commercial) to perform initial inspections and assessments of water damage incidents
- Conduct detailed evaluations to identify the source and extent of water intrusion, categorize water loss (per industry standards), and determine appropriate mitigation actions
- Develop accurate scopes of work, including equipment needs, drying plans, demolition requirements, and timelines; utilize tools such as moisture meters and thermal imaging as needed
- Present findings professionally to customers, explain the mitigation process, potential risks if delayed, recommended solutions, and associated costs to build trust and secure authorization to proceed with the job
- Explain mitigation services effectively, addressing customer concerns, to support job initiation
- Lead job startups by briefing and directing technicians on-site, assigning tasks, coordinating equipment setup, and ensuring safe and efficient execution of the mitigation plan
- Document job details, take progress photos, update job files/logs, and communicate with office staff, adjusters, and other stakeholders as required
- Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools; report issues and ensure readiness for emergency responses
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training preferred
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience in water damage mitigation, restoration, or related field (e.g., plumbing, construction, or emergency services)
- Proven ability to assess water damage, develop scopes, and sell/secure jobs with customers
- Strong sales and customer service skills with the ability to communicate empathetically and persuasively during stressful situations
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record and willingness/ability to travel extensively within the service area (company vehicle provided)
- Comfortable working in emergency/on-call environments, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks such as lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs), working in confined spaces, climbing ladders, and operating in wet/unsanitary conditions
- Proficiency with basic moisture detection tools, extraction/drying equipment, and Apps for documentation
Preferred:
- IICRC certifications (e.g., Water Damage Restoration Technician – WRT, Applied Structural Drying – ASD, or equivalent)
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in restoration/mitigation crews
- Knowledge of insurance claims processes and working with adjusters
- Familiarity with industry standards (IICRC S500) and safety protocols
