The Role
We're seeking an experienced Senior VDC Manager to lead our Building Information Modeling department. You'll combine advanced technical expertise with strategic leadership, overseeing complex multi-project BIM deliverables while mentoring junior technicians. This role offers technical autonomy and significant input on project planning and departmental strategy.
Can be remote; office locations available in Austin, Memphis, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Springdale, Denver, Houston, or San Antonio.
What You'll Do
BIM Model Development
- Create and manage comprehensive BIM models across all project phases (pursuit, preconstruction, coordination, construction, as-built)
- Establish and enforce BIM standards, guidelines, and quality protocols
- Develop advanced Revit families, templates, and standardized workflows for project reuse
- Conduct clash detection, resolution, and predictive analysis
Technical Leadership
- Serve as subject matter expert for complex BIM challenges and emerging technologies
- Lead constructability reviews and provide innovative solutions
- Mentor BIM Technicians and develop individualized training plans
- Manage workload across multiple concurrent projects
Strategic Contributions
- Support VDC presentations, proposals, and RFP responses
- Collaborate with operations, clients, engineers, and trade contractors
- Contribute to departmental strategic planning and process improvement
- Stay current with BIM industry trends and best practices
What We're Looking For
Experience: 8-15 years in BIM-related roles (BIM Specialist, Modeler, Coordinator, or Manager) with demonstrated team leadership and mentorship experience. Equivalent background in construction management, architecture, or engineering with strong BIM expertise is considered.
Technical Skills:
- Expert proficiency in Autodesk Revit and Navisworks Manage
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, BIM 360/ACC, and construction management platforms
- Familiarity with advanced visualization tools and field technologies (laser scanning, drones)
- Experience with data analysis tools (Power BI, advanced Excel)
Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field preferred.
Certifications: Autodesk Certified Associate or Professional (Revit), AGC CM-VDC, or equivalent industry certifications preferred.
Core Competencies: Deep understanding of commercial construction methods, MEP coordination, structural systems, and building enclosure integration. Exceptional communication skills, strategic thinking, and proven ability to manage budgets and timelines.
