JOB TITLE: Recess Supervisor

POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY
Ensures student safety by providing supervision during non-instructional periods.. Maintains secure learning environments through playground supervision.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
The Recess Supervisor shall have a high school diploma or equivalent with demonstrated proficiency in clerical skills as verified through district assessments. Must possess strong attention to detail and effective communication skills for interactions with students, staff, and families.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Supervises students during recess and lunch periods, ensuring a safe play environment and promoting appropriate behavior.
- Conducts regular safety inspections of playground equipment and reports any maintenance needs to the administration.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of all student information and school-related matters.
- Communicates effectively with students, staff, families, and community members through various formats.
- Utilize clear vision, hearing, and speech to effectively monitor large groups of students, identify potential hazards, and communicate instructions in a loud outdoor environment.
- Potentially encounter and manage exposure to bodily fluids while assisting students with injuries or hygiene needs in accordance with district safety protocols.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Participates in professional development activities to maintain current skills and knowledge.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor to support school operations.
MENTAL DEMANDS
Ability to maintain highly confidential information; communicate clearly both orally and in writing, and/or ability to reason and make appropriate decisions. Solve a variety of problems in many different situations and perform in a fast-paced environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this position, an employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee will occasionally lift, carry, move, push, or pull up to 20 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, or run for extended periods on various surfaces, including uneven outdoor terrain such as grass, mulch, and pavement and Work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions, including extreme heat, sun, rain, snow, and cold temperatures for the duration of playground supervision and bus duty.
This employee must have the ability to work in adverse weather conditions (rain, heat, snow, and cold) due to playground supervision and bus duty.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employment will be on an at-will basis for 9 months, beginning with the first day of the work calendar or at the time of employment for the duration of the school year. Each office and playground clerk will be provided a work calendar showing the specific daily work schedule of the employee. The work calendar may be modified by the Board of Education at any time, as needs dictate. Hours vary based on the needs of the building. A definite daily schedule will be established by the building principal and approved by the Chief Human Resources Officer.
The yearly salary will be disbursed in nineteen (19) equal payments or twenty-four (24) equal payments per employee’s choice.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will then be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of support staff personnel.
