Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive first impression.
- Schedule appointments efficiently using electronic health record (EHR), eClinicalworks.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and assist with billing processes including medical collection activities.
- Collect patient information accurately through intake procedures, update medical records, and review documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Obtain medical records from outside sources.
- Seek authorization for medical imaging.
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and handling patient inquiries promptly.
- Manage medical records filing, data entry, and document review to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality.
- Support medical office management tasks such as appointment reminders, patient check-in/out procedures, and coordinating with healthcare providers.
- Room patients and check vital signs and obtain a medical history, update current medications.
Requirements
- Prefer experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment, preferably with clinic or dental clinic experience.
- Prefer experience with EMR systems such as Epic and eClinicalWorks.
- Familiarity with medical coding including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), ICD coding, and medical billing procedures.
- Excellent computer skills and health information management software.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while demonstrating strong organizational skills.
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Exceptional communication skills combined with friendly phone etiquette and professional demeanor.
- Experience with insurance verification processes and familiarity with Medicare guidelines is a plus.
