The Flint Firebirds are seeking enthusiastic, outgoing individuals to join our team as Community Relations Interns for Summer 2026. This internship provides hands-on experience in community engagement, event operations, and brand representation, making it an excellent opportunity for students or individuals looking to build their resume in sports, marketing, or event management.
Please note: This is an unpaid internship. The projected start date is late May 2026, with the internship concluding in early September 2026.

Responsibilities
- Represent the Flint Firebirds at community events, parades, golf outings, and other appearances while serving as a brand ambassador.
- Assist with event setup and breakdown, including lifting equipment (must be able to lift at least 25 pounds).
- Interact with event attendees in a friendly, professional, and engaging manner.
- Work collaboratively with Firebirds staff and fellow interns to ensure successful events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support community relations initiatives.
Requirements
- Must be located in Flint and/or Genesee County and have reliable transportation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; must be outgoing, friendly, and a team player.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event schedules.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying summer weather conditions.
- Passion for community engagement and sports is a plus.
Time Commitment
- No set weekly or monthly hours; however, interns must be able to attend the majority of assigned community events.
- The schedule may be weekday- and weekend-heavy depending on summer event demands.
