Overview
The Sales Engineer supports the Territory Sales Managers (TSMs) in quoting and closing deals that
require custom features or variations that are not already included in the standard product line or that
are technically beyond the capability/expertise of the TSM. The sales engineer shall ensure that all
orders have accurate bills of materials and process plans that are ready to act upon without question as
soon as the order is submitted.
The sales engineer will be the primary internal pre-sale engineering contact for our customers. The sales
engineer will use acquired input and feedback from the TSM’s and customers to guide the engineering
department in new product development and product improvement efforts to meet the changing needs
of our markets.
This position is primarily an “in-office” role but will require periodic travel to visit customers throughout
our territory as necessary to assist in product development and to strengthen customer relations.
Key Responsibilities
-Assisting TSMs in interpreting customer specifications and estimating costs.
-Ensuring all orders submitted have an accurate and fully defined Process Plan and Bill of Material.
-Coordinate with application engineering to ensure that any new products or variations of existing
products meet established application requirements.
-Work with existing suppliers or identify new suppliers as necessary to fill customer needs competitively.
-Process orders promptly and with all necessary due diligence to ensure on time delivery and that the
product meets the customer’s expectations for quality and reliability.
-Provide pre-sale technical assistance to the TSM’s and their customers.
-Provide technical presentations as required to our customers.
-Conducting market research to determine how to configure our products to the needs of customers.
-Contribute actively in establishing annual sales plans, both strategic and short term.
-Developing technical sales literature to promote the sale of our products.
-Maintain product option matrix.
