Mechanical Design Engineer

FlexTrades is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support our aerospace client. This role will include both new product development and sustaining engineering efforts for aerospace fluid management products (rotating and precision mechanical components such as pumps, valves, shafts, bearings, seals, gears, and pressure-containing assemblies using Creo design software)

Contract Details:

Pay: $65.00 per hour

Guaranteed 50 hours weekly (10 hrs OT weekly paid at 1.5x hourly rate)

FlexTrades has paid travel time, lodging, and per diem.

Key Responsibilities

This role is ideal for engineers with experience designing rotating and precision mechanical components such as pumps, valves, shafts, bearings, seals, gears, and pressure-containing assemblies.

Candidates should possess strong Creo design skills, a solid foundation in GD&T and tolerance analysis, and the ability to support products throughout the full lifecycle from concept development through testing, failure analysis, and continuous improvement.

• Design and support aerospace fluid management products including pumps, valves, seals, shafts, bearings, gears, splines, and pressure-containing assemblies
• Develop mechanical concepts, 3D models, detailed designs, engineering drawings, and design documentation using Creo
• Perform engineering calculations, tolerance stack-ups, design analysis, and GD&T application
• Support material selection, heat treatment specifications, and casting design considerations
• Analyze product and test data to evaluate performance, reliability, and design effectiveness
• Investigate field returns, nonconformances, and product performance issues to determine root cause and corrective actions
• Support engineering change orders (ECOs), design revisions, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Participate in product development, sustaining engineering, and FMEA activities while collaborating with manufacturing, quality, and test engineering teams

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of Mechanical Design Engineering experience
• Proficiency with Creo CAD software
• Experience designing mechanical components such as shafts, bearings, seals, gears, splines, valves, and pressure-containing housings
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and stack-up calculations
• Experience performing mechanical design analysis and engineering calculations
• Knowledge of material selection, heat treatment processes, and cast component design
• Experience evaluating product performance and analyzing test data for mechanical systems
• Ability to assess product conformity/nonconformity and support engineering disposition activities
• Experience conducting or supporting Design FMEA and Process FMEA activities

Pay and Benefits:

• Pay: $65.00 per hour
• Guaranteed 10 hours OT pay each week. Overtime Each Week paid at time and a half
