About the role
You'll join an applied data science team that works directly with the client's operations organization, covering supply chain, inventory and labor. The team works like a forward-deployed unit. They build prototypes quickly and turn them into business cases strong enough to get senior leadership to fund and prioritize them. This role is hands-on and focused on business outcomes, not research.
What you'll do
- Build optimization and forecasting solutions for workforce planning, labor scheduling and day-of labor orchestration.
- Take a problem from rough idea to working prototype quickly, then shape it into a business case with clear ROI.
- Build AI agents and LLM- or VLM-based workflows for operational use cases.
- Turn data and high-level assumptions into recommendations that leadership can act on.
- Work with business leaders, engineering and research scientists to move prototypes toward production.
What you bring
- 8 years in applied data science or operations research.
- Strong optimization and modeling skills: linear and mixed-integer programming, simulation, and forecasting, including probabilistic forecasting.
- Hands-on experience building AI agents or LLM applications.
- Production-quality Python and SQL that goes beyond notebooks.
- Business sense: you can frame problems, build business cases and present to executives.
- You've worked in fast-paced settings where you had to deliver results quickly.
Strong pluses
- Workforce or labor planning experience in any industry, such as retail, healthcare, manufacturing or logistics.
- Experience with both operational, day-of decision-making and strategy work.
- Exposure to supply chain, inventory or warehouse operations
