DATA CENTER TECHNICIAN

Job Description:

A Data Center Technician installs, maintains, and troubleshoots servers, storage, networking hardware, cabling, power systems, and environmental equipment to keep data centers running with minimal downtime. Typical duties include rack‑and‑stack hardware installation, replacing failed components, structured cabling, monitoring infrastructure, responding to alarms, and performing preventive maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and Configure Hardware: Servers, storage arrays, network switches, PDUs, and UPS systems.
• Rack‑and‑stack operations: Proper mounting, elevation, and mechanical support for IT equipment.
• Structured cabling: Route, terminate, dress, and label copper and fiber cabling following standards.
• Hardware replacement: Drives, power supplies, memory, NICs, fiber and copper cables, and other failed components.
• Diagnostics & troubleshooting: Run hardware and network tests, respond to monitoring alarms, and resolve faults.
• Power & cooling support: Maintain UPS systems, generators, environmental controls, and airflow pathways.
• Preventive maintenance: Clean filters, verify cabling integrity, test batteries, and update documentation.
• Security & access control: Enforce facility security protocols and support remote‑hands requests.
• Inventory & documentation: Maintain asset records, serial numbers, rack elevations, and ticket updates.

Attend on-call support to resolve alarms and trouble tickets and complete emergency repairs as needed (break-fix)

Follow all safety processes and requirements and ensure all regulatory requirements and quality standards are met

Update the status to managers and the stakeholders as needed with the working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
