Position : AIX Infrastructure Architect
Location: Cincinnati, OH /Onsite
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead enterprise infrastructure strategy and architecture, defining standalone architectures for compute, network, storage, identity and access management, monitoring and backup services.
• Conduct current-state assessments of IBM i (iSeries) and AIX environments and design future-state target architectures aligned with business and transformation goals.
• Establish infrastructure standards, reference architectures and best practices for IBM i and AIX platforms.
• Serve as SME for IBM i/OS400/AS400 and AIX operating systems; architect, administer and optimize IBM Power Systems LPARs and HMC.
• Lead operating-system upgrades, patching and performance tuning; design and support high-availability and disaster-recovery configurations.
• Drive migration of disaster-recovery environments for IBM i and AIX to IBM Cloud Power Virtual Server, including network connectivity, security models, data replication, backup and recovery strategies. • Plan and execute DR testing, failover and failback procedures and validate solutions meet RTO/RPO requirements.
• Architect secure hybrid environments spanning on-premises and IBM Cloud, ensuring alignment with enterprise security and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications:
• 15 years of hands-on experience with IBM i (iSeries/AS400) and AIX environments.
• Deep expertise in IBM Power Systems, LPAR management, HMC, performance tuning and capacity planning.
• Proven experience migrating or implementing IBM i/AIX workloads on IBM Cloud (Power Virtual Server preferred).
• Extensive knowledge of disaster-recovery architectures, backup and replication solutions such as MIMIX and PowerHA.
• Demonstrated experience establishing greenfield or carved-out infrastructure independent of a parent organization, leading infrastructure separation or divestiture projects.
• Strong understanding of enterprise networking, storage platforms and security architecture.
• Excellent leadership, communication and technical decision-making skills; ability to work independently in complex transformation-driven environments.
