Senior Electrical Designer

Reading, PA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Senior Electrical Wiring Designer to support complex power generation projects through high-quality electrical design and drafting services. This position is responsible for developing detailed electrical wiring designs, coordinating across disciplines, supporting project execution, and ensuring compliance with industry and project standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical and instrumentation wiring design within the power industry and strong proficiency with industry-standard design software.

Essential Duties:

• Independently execute complex electrical wiring design assignments for power generation projects.

• Develop detailed electrical design drawings and documentation from sketches, specifications, and engineering data.

• Create one-line diagrams, MCC and switchgear layouts, elementary and interconnection drawings, instrument loop drawings, DCS and PLC wiring termination drawings, and power/instrumentation cabling designs.

• Design medium and low-voltage power system installations for industrial and power facilities.

• Perform cable schedules, cable sizing calculations, and maintain accurate project documentation.

• Coordinate electrical wiring design activities with other engineering and design disciplines.

• Review vendor submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications and requirements.

• Participate in design reviews and provide technical input regarding electrical systems and project requirements.

• Conduct field visits and panel audits as required to support project execution.

• Provide technical guidance and oversight to junior designers and support teams.

• Ensure all deliverables meet project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Follow project-specific Quality Assurance procedures and industry best practices.

Requirements/Skills:

• Extensive experience in electrical and instrumentation wiring design for power generation or industrial projects.

• Proficiency with SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL), SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), AutoCAD, and MicroStation.

• Strong knowledge of detailed wiring drawings for lighting, small power, and earthing systems.

• Experience developing MV/LV single-line diagrams and control/wiring schematics.

• Familiarity with AC/DC distribution panels and process area electrical equipment layouts.

• Ability to perform cable sizing calculations and develop cable schedules.

• Strong understanding of electrical drafting standards, codes, and industry practices.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Design, Drafting, or related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods of time.

• Ability to conduct occasional field visits and panel audits in industrial or power generation environments.

• Ability to communicate effectively with project teams, clients, and field personnel.

• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
