Heavy Equipment Operator

Convent, LA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator with 5 years of heavy equipment operating experience for a contract assignment. This position will work a 5/10 schedule and will primarily involve digging a pond and setting a box. The Excavator Operator will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy equipment on the job site while following all site safety requirements and procedures.

Essential Duties:
• Safely operate an excavator and other heavy equipment as required on the job site.
• Perform excavation work, including digging a pond and preparing areas for box placement.
• Assist with setting and positioning a box as directed by project supervision.
• Operate equipment including dozers, track hoes, front-end loaders, backhoes, rollers, forklifts, and excavators as needed.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and identify maintenance or safety concerns before operation.
• Follow job-site safety procedures, equipment operating guidelines, and supervisor instructions.
• Maintain awareness of surrounding personnel, equipment, utilities, and site conditions while operating machinery.
• Perform additional heavy equipment and site-related duties as assigned.

Requirements/Skills:
• Minimum of 5 years of excavator operating experience required.
• Demonstrated experience safely operating heavy construction equipment.
• OSHA Basic Plus certification required.
• Must be able to successfully complete a DISA drug screening and background check.
• Ability to safely and accurately perform excavation and material-handling tasks.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work effectively with a construction team.
• Strong understanding of job-site safety practices and procedures.
• Must be dependable and able to work a 5/10 schedule for the duration of the contract assignment.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to climb on and off heavy equipment safely throughout the workday.
• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform other physical movements required on an active job site.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions.
• Ability to work around heavy equipment, construction activity, noise, dust, and uneven terrain.
• Must be physically capable of safely performing the essential duties of the position.
