POSITION SUMMARY:
Develops, evaluates, and improves industrial manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.


III. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 or more years of experience preferred.
  • Possesses solid working knowledge of manufacturing.
  • May provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to team members.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for process optimization and troubleshooting with employee safety at the forefront.
  • Responsible for process documentation and standard work.  Collaborate with Process Improvement (Beta) team to implement world class manufacturing processes and standards.
  • Uses Lean Manufacturing skills to support smooth, even flow in manufacturing and results in products that conform to customer requirements.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.  Coordinate with manufacturing to minimize production issues and costs while ensuring products meet quality standards.  Design, develop and maintain manufacturing routes to maximize effectiveness, efficiency, and space.
  • Confers with vendors to determine specifications of products and arrange equipment, material purchase, and parts.
  • Communicates manufacturing capabilities, capacity, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes. 
  • Evaluates products based on specifications and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot processes in response to process upsets and customer complaints.  Works with manufacturing and quality to complete root cause analysis and corrective actions on nonconforming material and customer complaints/returns.
  • Performs process analysis relating to
o Change overs
o Material Movement
o Layout
o Time Studies

  • Lead / participate in Kaizen events focused on process improvement and waste reduction.
  • Collaborate with new products to develop production level processes for manufacturing.
  • High level of computer literacy to support data analytics.  Must be able to create complex, custom queries involving multiple SQL databases to create datasets for problem solving.  ·
  • Meets product quality through process design and process control.  Recommend, or propose implementation of new process control or technology to improve FLEXcon manufacturing capability and systems.
  • Works with product design and purchasing on New Product Development.  Conduct trials to establish process definition for new processes\products.  Guide mistake proofing and process capability trials on production equipment to scale-up new products, processes and materials.  Utilize the concepts of design for manufacturing.
  • Other duties consistent with the general nature and focus of the position and/or the goals and objectives of the department may be assigned.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PHYSICAL AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Category #4 (On-Site Employee): 
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Must be punctual, able to sustain attendance guidelines, and work hours as assigned.
  • Estimated % of travel is less than 5%.

ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH AND SAFETY: 
  • Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all environmental and safety regulations, including the Company’s environmental and safety policies and procedures.  Must be willing to report potential environmental and safety improvements to appropriate supervisory and/or management personnel.
  • Must report all (on shift / off shift) incidents to Supervisor immediately.
  • Must adhere to FLEXcon’s personal protective equipment standards.
  • The incumbent in this position is responsible for knowledge of and adherence to environmental policies and company procedures as per the company’s Environmental Management System.
  • Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of harm to the safety of themselves or others.
  • Responsible for informing the Company if he/she is taking medications or if there are any other circumstances that would interfere with safe performance of job duties.
 
 QUALITY: 
  • The incumbent in this position is responsible for knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures as they relate to the requirements of Quality Management System.
