Flexaseal Engineered Seals and Systems, LLC, is a worldwide systems and mechanical seal manufacturer with facilities in Vermont, New York, Washington, Louisiana, Texas and Brazil. After 40 years, Flexaseal is continuing to grow with sales agents and distributors servicing over 50 countries.
We are seeking a Repairs Technician to join our growing team!
Required:
- Must maintain safe, clean, and organized work area(s)
- Able to read mechanical and technical drawings
- Able to use measuring instruments to inspect seal parts against dimensional drawings
- Ability to use a computer to generate seal observation reports
- Previous experience with mechanical tools
- Basic math skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Lifting of 75 lbs regularly required
- Physically able to lift, stand, kneel, and work with hands for extended periods of time
- Comfortable working in industrial environments (plants, confined spaces, dirty/noisy conditions)
- Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record to drive work truck
- Flexibility of schedule – overtime, travel, occasional overnights on field service jobs
- Local Travel for on-site service work expected sparingly (usually no more than 2-hour drive time)
- Strong safety awareness while on the job, especially at customer facility (Lockout/Tagout, PPE, hazard recognition)
Preferred:
- Experience with rotating equipment (basic exposure to pumps, motors, bearings, couplings)
- Forklift / Rigging experience
- Comfortable speaking to and working with customers both face to face and over the phone, in a professional, customer service focused manner
- Comfortable working with all aspects of Microsoft Office/Suite (Outlook, Excel, Adobe, etc.)
Other duties include:
- Responsibility for receiving, evaluating, disassembly/reassembly, cleaning and repairing mechanical seals and/or seal parts
- the initial process includes receiving the products, ensuring all documentation has been supplied (e.g., SDS), documenting and identifying the seal parts, and evaluating their repair needs
- Being comfortable with customer communication is a plus
- Works closely with the Applications and Design Engineering team on reviewing repair needs and having design prints and parts created
- Regularly perform the disassembly, proper cleaning of all components, with use of manual lathes, grinders, and hand tools
- Work closely and professionally with internal team members to find solutions and resolve matters promptly by providing all recipients with up to date and comprehensive data
- Perform other general duties as assigned
- Previous experience with mechanical seals is preferred
