Inventory Planner
Position Summary:
The Inventory Planner/Expeditor is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the flow of materials, components, and work orders through the manufacturing process to ensure on-time production and delivery. This role acts as a liaison between production, purchasing, receiving, and warehouse teams to minimize delays, resolve bottlenecks, and maintain accurate inventory levels. The Inventory Planner/Expeditor communicates directly with vendors, orders raw materials and parts, assists with inventory discrepancies, and supports the receiving department when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
· Plan and release production orders based on production schedules, material availability, and customer demand
· Monitor and adjust production schedules to respond to changes in demand, delays, or inventory issues
· Expedite critical materials and parts by working closely with suppliers, purchasing, and internal departments
· Communicate regularly with vendors to confirm order status, delivery schedules, and resolve any supply issues
· Order raw materials, components, and parts to meet production demands and maintain proper inventory levels
· Assist in resolving inventory discrepancies by investigating variances, coordinating with warehouse and accounting, and ensuring accurate system records
· Support the receiving department as needed with verifying shipments, labeling, documentation, and coordinating incoming materials
· Track order status and follow up on shortages or late deliveries to prevent production interruptions
· Coordinate with production supervisors and team leaders to resolve schedule conflicts or priority shifts
· Update ERP/MRP systems with accurate order status, lead times, inventory levels, and vendor information
· Maintain clear and timely communication with stakeholders about production progress, risks, and changes
· Leads/Participates in daily or weekly production planning meetings
· Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and on-time delivery
· Prepare and distribute reports on production performance, shortages, vendor performance, and expediting activities
· Participates/Leads physical cycle counting process and daily reconciliation of inventory to insure product availability sufficient to meet customers scheduled deliveries
Requirements:
- HS Diploma / GED and 5 years relevant experience
- Basic knowledge of warehouse management
- Related experience and/or training
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) VLOOKUP
- Strong attention to detail
- Previous experience with the online systems of FedEx, UPS and other carriers is desired
- Will be required to lift or push up to 50 pounds
Preferred Experience / Skills:
- Understands Pivot Tables
- Experience with ERP / MRP systems
Job Type: Full-time
Base Pay: $20.00 - $35.34 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
