This role ensures the effective management of EH&S programs and compliance with all applicable company policies as well as local, state, and federal regulations
What a typical day looks like:
- Develop and administer budgets, schedules, and performance requirements.
- Conduct meetings involving environmental safety, training and awareness programs.
- Provide direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance and act as advisor to unit, or sub-units and get involved as required to meet schedules or resolve problems.
- Establish and recommend changes to policies which affect subordinate organization(s).
- Interact frequently with subordinate supervisors, customers and/or functional peer group managers.
- Conduct presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules, etc.
- Manage budget and schedule for moderately complex EH&S activities, including costs of contract labor, equipment and materials.
- Train staff on any changes to policy and procedures.
- We are seeking a proactive, experienced, and hands-on Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) Manager to lead all EH&S Management Systems at our facility. This role is critical to ensuring a safe, compliant, and a high-performance workplace. You will partner closely with Operations, Facilities, HR, and Corporate and peer EH&S groups to drive a strong safety culture, reduce risk, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Environment or Health Sciences or equivalent experience in EH&S and knowledge of related regulations, codes, and guidelines.
- 7 years of related experience in EH&S or related position.
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of site EHS programs, including OSHA compliance, Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, Hazard Communication, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, Emergency Response, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, and Contractor safety.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, state AED requirements, etc.)
- Strong communication, influence, and leadership abilities
- Maintains required documentation, permits, and records
- Develop and deliver EHS training for employees, supervisors, and contractors.
- Drives behavior-based safety initiatives, conducts training, and fosters a "safety first" mindset across all levels.
- Facilitate EHS Committee meetings, toolbox talks, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Promote a culture of accountability, hazard reporting, and continuous improvement.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Track and analyze EHS metrics to identify trends and drive improvements.
- Manage Workers' Compensation cases.
- Conduct routine site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Partner with operations to integrate safety into equipment design, process changes, and new projects.
- Oversee environmental programs, including waste management, air emissions, stormwater, and chemical storage.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits and reporting requirements.
