This role is primarily responsible for monitoring and maintaining E-Coat chemical systems, performing tank testing and adjustments, troubleshooting conveyor and rack issues, and ensuring quality and efficiency throughout the coating process. Key duties include chemical testing, SPC charting, equipment troubleshooting, rack maintenance, and adherence to all safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Take 150 mL titration samples from 8 tanks and perform required testing at a minimum frequency of once every 2 hours using proper measuring devices and SPC charting procedures
- Adjust chemical pumps based on test results and perform bulk chemical additions as needed
- Carry 5-gallon buckets (up to 58 lbs.) of product upstairs and dump materials into designated containers at heights of 36 inches or greater
- Check and troubleshoot jams in conveyor lines to maintain efficient production flow
- Perform line mechanic duties by ensuring bumper components fit securely on racks and identifying and completing appropriate repairs
- Perform outside rack maintenance, including preparing, carrying, lifting, flipping, pushing, and pulling racks weighing up to 312 pounds for burn processing and restocking
- Change up to 10 racks per shift; rack processing may take up to 8 hours
- Maneuver 684-pound barrels using a drum cart, requiring over 100 pounds of force to tip and position safely
- Clean out outside rack areas every 2–3 weeks using required respiratory protection equipment
- Climb stairs and vertical ladders and work inside tanks as necessary for maintenance and troubleshooting
- Use large pipe wrenches and operate valves during maintenance activities
- Follow safety standards, quality requirements, and departmental procedures at all times
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must be able to communicate in English
- Must be able to demonstrate understanding of health and safety compliance training programs and departmental work instructions written in English
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately perform measurements and testing procedures
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills preferred
- Ability to safely use hand tools, including large pipe wrenches
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 100 pounds
- Carry 5-gallon buckets weighing over 58 pounds upstairs and pour materials into containers at or above 36 inches
- Push and pull up to 500 pounds using a drum cart with approximately 100 pounds of applied force
- Lift, flip, push, and pull racks weighing up to 312 pounds
- Regularly required to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, use hands, bend, reach above head and below shoulder level, and work inside tanks
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment
- Must be able to wear required respiratory protection for certain cleaning and maintenance activities
- The work environment is representative of conditions typical for a manufacturing facility. Guardian West is not a climate-controlled facility. Safety precautions must always be followed to reduce exposure to hazards
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and loud environments
- Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration
