Sample & Technical Design Assistant

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Sample & Technical Design Assistant to support Technical Design, Product Development, Production, Creative, PR, Marketing, and Wholesale teams. This role is responsible for managing the lifecycle of development and production samples, supporting fittings and technical design processes, coordinating sample logistics, and maintaining organization across inventory and archives.

As the primary point of contact for all sample-related matters, this individual will partner closely with Production, Design, E-commerce, PR, Wholesale, Creative, and Marketing teams to coordinate sample requests, prevent overlap, and ensure sample is accurate, accounted for, and available when needed. This role is critical to maintaining sample integrity, supporting product development, keeping teams on schedule, and ensuring smooth execution across creative, production, and commercial workflows.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Sample Management & Production Support

• Track, organize, and maintain all development and production samples across Ready-to-Wear and Lingerie.
• Coordinate incoming and outgoing sample shipments, factory returns, and sample requests.
• Prepare garments for fittings, including measuring, steaming, pulling references, and organizing samples before and after fit sessions.
• Maintain accurate sample tracking systems, archives, and seasonal storage.
• Assist with inputting new collection styles into the sample tracking system at the start of each season.

Technical Design Support

• Assist with fittings by taking detailed notes and supporting fit comment development.
• Measure garments and support the maintenance of existing production tech packs.
• Create and update flat sketches in Adobe Illustrator.
• Organize fit samples and development references throughout the product lifecycle.
• Assist in the creation of tech packs for new seasonal collections, including garment construction details, bill of materials, measurement specifications, how-to-measure guides, and sample reference imagery to support accurate sample development and factory communication.

Cross-Functional Sample Coordination

• Coordinate sample needs across Production, Design, Creative, PR, Marketing, E-commerce, and Wholesale teams.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date sample inventory for all photoshoots, ensuring correct product representation and timely sample availability for e-commerce and creative initiatives.
• Support photoshoots, marketing initiatives, wholesale requests, and development projects by preparing and tracking samples.
• Monitor sample loans and ensure timely returns while maintaining accurate inventory records.

Studio & Archive Organization

• Maintain organization of sample closets, fit racks, storage units, and seasonal archives.
• Ensure samples are properly labeled, catalogued, and stored.
• Support sample sale preparation and ongoing studio organization initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Product Development preferred. Degree concentration or relevant experience in technical design is a plus.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and Dropbox.
• Enthusiastic attitude with strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Knowledge of garment construction, fittings, and product development processes is preferred.
