Duties and Responsibilities:

• Instructional/Teaching Performance

o Utilize innovative and equitable teaching techniques to engage students.
o Follow established course syllabi and outlines for ESL instruction.
o Maintain effective use of time during classroom instruction.
o Ensure timely completion of course material and assessments.
o Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback.

• Instructional Development

o Develop and update ESL course syllabi, outlines, and instructional materials.
o Collaborate with faculty to enhance ESL curricula.
o Prepare a course offering schedule aligned with program goals.
o Participate in curriculum planning meetings with colleagues.

• Instructional Management

o Maintain accurate student records, including grades, attendance, and progress reports.
o Meet all administrative deadlines, including the submission of required reports.
o Monitor student performance and provide necessary support to ensure success.

• Classroom Management

o Promote a safe, supportive, and disciplined learning environment.
o Implement appropriate safety precautions in the classroom.
o Foster a positive learning environment that encourages respect and cooperation.

• Student Guidance/Advising

o Provide academic and career counseling for ESL students.
o Make appropriate referrals to additional services, such as tutoring or counseling, as needed.
o Support students with special needs, ensuring an equitable learning experience.

• College and Community Services

o Participate in college recruitment activities, including career fairs and community outreach.
o Engage with the community through participation in events such as health fairs and charity activities.
o Represent the college at community organizations like the Chamber of Commerce and other local groups.

• Professional Development and Leadership

o Participate in ongoing professional development activities, including workshops and conferences.
o Serve on college committees, contributing to the institution’s strategic goals.
o Take on leadership roles within the college or professional organizations as needed.

• Other Duties

o Perform additional duties as assigned to support the college’s mission and goals.

Required Education: Associate’s degree plus 5 years of experience with individualized and/or classroom basic-skills instruction.

o Experience in curriculum development and online instruction.
o Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
o Demonstrated proficiency in instructional techniques, especially in an ESL setting.
o Knowledge of adult learning principles.
o Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or Related Discipline and experience with individualized and/or classroom basic-skills instruction.

Preferred Experience: At least three years of experience teaching ESL to adult learners
