Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the company's accounts payable processes, ensuring accurate and timely payment of invoices, and maintaining strong financial controls. This role requires a solid understanding of accounting principles, financial software, and compliance standards such as SOX and GAAP. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our financial operations, including data entry, account reconciliation, and processing journal entries within various accounting systems.
Duties
- Process and verify invoices using accounting software such as NetSuite
- Ensure all payments are made accurately and in accordance with company policies and deadlines
- Reconcile accounts payable transactions and perform account reconciliations to ensure data accuracy
- Prepare and post journal entries related to accounts payable activities
- Maintain vendor records and ensure compliance with SOX controls and internal audit requirements
- Assist with month-end closing procedures, including general ledger reconciliation and analysis of accounts payable data
- Support benefits administration and payroll management tasks as needed, utilizing systems like ADP or Paychex
- Collaborate with other departments such as HRIS, HR, or governmental agencies for compliance reporting
- Maintain detailed documentation of transactions for audit purposes
- Participate in process improvements to enhance efficiency within the accounts payable function
Requirements
- Proven experience with accounting software such as Workday, QuickBooks, Sage, or NetSuite
- Strong understanding of GAAP, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and general ledger accounting
- Knowledge of SOX compliance standards and internal controls related to accounts payable processes
- Familiarity with payroll systems like ADP or Paychex and benefits administration procedures
- Experience with governmental or non-profit accounting is a plus
- Excellent analysis skills with the ability to perform account reconciliation and financial analysis accurately
- Proficiency in data entry with high accuracy (10 key typing skills preferred)
- Ability to prepare journal entries and perform technical accounting tasks effectively
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in bookkeeping and financial record keeping
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred; relevant work experience will also be considered

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
