Overview

FleishmanHillard, a global integrated communications agency, is looking for a media relations-focused Account Executive to join our Carolinas team. This position provides the opportunity to focus on building and executing media strategies that result in high-quality placements and implementing public relations tactics for multiple top-tier clients. This individual will have the opportunity to work alongside multi-office teams to execute award-winning public relations programs for Fortune 500 clients and beloved brands spanning the retail, technology, food & beverage, and lifestyle industries.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day client, team and media correspondence for corp-sumer communications programs that drive relevance, recognition and perception change on behalf of national brands.
  • Execute strategic media relations plans, targeting the right outlets to reach the right audiences.
  • Creatively drive story ideas, working closely with journalists to shape coverage. Mine the competitive landscape and use data – like Search trends – to optimize storytelling relevance.
  • Uncover trends and opportunities to inject clients into the news cycles and recommend surround-sound PR tactics – like SMTs, paid editorial, affiliate programs, product sampling and reviews, creative content creation, influencer partnerships, mediagenic studies and more – to help clients achieve their goals.
  • Write and edit salient pitches and messaging, strategic communications plans, digestible memos, top-line research takeaways and thoughtful media materials.
  • Support thought leadership and industry recognition efforts including research, planning and award and speaker panel submissions. 
  • Support corporate announcements, community relations and DE&I programs to help clients demonstrate their purpose and impact in the communities they serve.
  • Monitor and measure impact; translate public relations programs into thoughtful learnings and campaign reports.

Qualifications

  • 3-4 years of experience in a communications-focused role with an emphasis on communications and public relations work.
  • Passion for media relations, including developing relationships with reporters to understand their needs and find clever ways to insert clients into their editorial agendas.
  • Proven success working with national media, and a demonstrated hands-on media approach is required. This includes understanding the inner workings of embargoes, exclusives, booking talent on morning shows, publisher deadlines and editorial planning process and more.
  • Journalism expertise with excellent writing capabilities. Ability to seamlessly transition between styles of writing, including creative writing, salient and persuasive messaging, editorial-style writing, thought leadership and technical writing.
  • Fueled by curiosity; enjoys keeping a finger on the pulse of the news agenda, social media and cultural trends, and platform developments.
  • Ability to develop thoughtful, client-ready communications materials that apply creative tactics and use a variety of communication channels.
  • Self-starting proactive, problem solver with attention to detail and critical eye.
  • Collaborative and inclusive team member with a learning mindset.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $54,500 - 70,000.

 

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications and geography. A range of medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off and/or other benefits also are available.
