Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and arrive equipped to provide advanced pre-hospital care
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history collection
- Administer basic life support (BLS), medication administration, injection techniques, and airway management as needed
- Operate and monitor medical devices (DME) such as ventilators, monitors, and infusion pumps during transport
- Maintain clear communication with dispatch, hospitals, and other emergency responders to coordinate patient care and transfer procedures
- Ensure proper documentation of patient information, treatment provided, and transport details following protocols
- Safely operate emergency vehicles while adhering to traffic laws and safety standards, including heavy lifting and driving skills
Skills
- Proven EMT experience with a strong foundation in emergency medicine principles
- Critical care experience within hospital or trauma center settings, especially Level I or Level II trauma centers
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and vital signs assessment
- Skilled in patient care techniques such as venipuncture, aseptic technique, and physical examinations
- Experience with triage procedures and urgent care protocols in high-pressure environments like emergency rooms or critical care units
- Ability to perform airway management and critical care transport efficiently under stress
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols and the use of DME equipment for patient stabilization
