EXPERIENCED DIESEL MECHANIC / DIESEL TECHNICIAN
We are looking for an experienced and dependable mechanic to join our diesel repair shop. We are seeking someone with a strong mechanical background who is comfortable diagnosing problems, performing repairs, and working independently.
While diesel experience is preferred, we are also interested in experienced automotive and equipment mechanics whose skills and experience transfer well to diesel and commercial vehicle repair.
This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for an experienced mechanic who can become a productive member of our team.
COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
- Starting pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability
- Full-time, 40-hour work week
- Overtime available, but not required
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Automotive Mechanic, or Equipment Mechanic required
- Must have experience working on a variety of light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty diesel vehicles, including the diagnosis, service, and repair of diesel-powered trucks and commercial vehicles
- Must have knowledge and experience using diagnostic equipment, including handheld diagnostic scanners and factory/OEM diagnostic software on laptops, such as Cummins INSITE, Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link, Navistar Engine Diagnostics (NED), Allison DOC, and other manufacturer-specific diagnostic programs
- Must have experience, knowledge, or formal training in air brake and hydraulic brake systems
- Must be proficient in the use of a digital multimeter and have a working understanding of automotive electrical systems, including basic electrical testing and troubleshooting
- Must be able to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems and perform repairs with limited supervision
- The ideal candidate will have experience with suspension, driveline, and drivetrain systems, as well as a basic working knowledge of hydraulic systems
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record suitable for operating and road-testing customer and company vehicles
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (medical card)
- Class A or Class B CDL preferred, but not required
- Fabrication and welding abilities are a plus

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can diagnose problems rather than simply replace parts and is comfortable working on a variety of vehicles and mechanical systems.
The right candidate should be organized, able to work independently when necessary and willing to work as part of a team. Because of the variety of work that comes through our shop, we value a mechanic who is willing to troubleshoot unfamiliar problems and continue learning.
- Must be dependable and consistently report to work on time as scheduled
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to maintain consistent attendance
- Applicants should live within a reasonable commuting distance of the shop and be able to reliably commute to work without transportation or travel distance interfering with their scheduled start time or regular attendance
