Overview

The Events Manager plays a pivotal role in bringing Fleet Feet’s community-focused expos and pop-up shops to life. This position oversees the full scope of expo and pop-up shop planning and execution, ensuring every detail reflects our commitment to exceptional service and brand integrity.

Responsibilities

As the Events Manager, you will lead:

  • Pre-Race Planning & Event Execution: Oversee all event logistics, including course setup, start/finish line arrangements, waste management, medical services, and online registration platforms.
  • Collaboration: Work with local officials, sponsors, law enforcement, health departments, race entertainment teams, timing partners, race crews, and subcontractors. Adhere to all Fleet Feet Brand Standards and Guidelines. Builds and maintains trust from staff, customers, and the community by using good judgment
  • Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, assign, and manage volunteers for various event roles.
  • Event Logistics Management: Coordinate supplies, equipment, post-run meals, awards, participant shirts, and finisher medals.
  • Safety Priority: Ensure the safety of all participants, volunteers, and staff throughout the event lifecycle.


What You'll Do

  • Build detailed event plans and timelines that keep every moving piece on track
  • Coordinate logistics including venue requirements, floor plans, equipment, signage, fixtures, inventory, shipping, staffing, setup, and breakdown
  • Partner cross-functionally with store leaders, vendors, and event organizers
  • Manage event operations onsite, serving as a primary point of contact and confidently troubleshooting challenges as they arise
  • Coordinate and support event staffing, ensuring team members understand their roles, responsibilities, schedules, and expectations
  • Evaluate event performance and identify opportunities to improve processes, elevate the participant experience, and increase operational efficiency
  • Represent the brand with energy and professionalism, creating memorable experiences for runners, walkers, and the greater community


What We're Looking For

  • Event management experience: You have experience planning and executing events, expos, pop-up shops, and similar retail activations
  • Project management experience: You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple timelines, priorities, and moving pieces
  • A problem solver: You stay calm under pressure, think logically and creatively, and can quickly craft solutions when unexpected challenges arise
  • A clear communicator: You can effectively communicate expectations and updates across a variety of channels and audiences
  • A team player: You bring a positive, can-do attitude, and enjoy working alongside others to create exceptional experiences


Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of event management experience.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Outstanding organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to balance multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Flexible and adaptable to varying work schedules, including evenings and weekends.

Additional Requirements: Position requires occasional moving around with light (1-10lbs.) carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling. The position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access files, office equipment, etc. The position is mostly sedentary and requires the employee to have close visual acuity to perform job requirements. The position requires frequent communication with team members and repetitive motion with the hands, wrists and/or fingers while constantly utilizing a computer. This position is located within an office environment and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
