Position Summary

The Director of Total Rewards is responsible for leading Fleet Farm's compensation strategy and total rewards programs across our Stores, Distribution Centers, and Store Support Center. This leader will partner closely with executive leadership, Human Resources, Finance, Payroll, and business leaders to develop competitive, equitable, and scalable compensation programs that align with our business objectives.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys evaluating current programs, identifying opportunities for improvement, modernizing compensation practices, and building solutions that position Fleet Farm for continued growth.

What You'll Do

As the Director of Total Rewards, you will:

  • Develop and execute Fleet Farm's enterprise-wide compensation and Total Rewards strategy.
  • Evaluate and enhance compensation programs, salary structures, job architecture, incentive plans, and pay philosophies.
  • Lead market pricing, benchmarking, job evaluations, and internal equity analyses to ensure competitive and equitable pay practices.
  • Partner with Finance and Human Resources to lead annual compensation planning, merit reviews, salary adjustments, and budgeting.
  • Design and implement compensation policies, governance, and best practices that support organizational growth and operational excellence.
  • Build executive dashboards, workforce analytics, and reporting that translate compensation data into actionable business insights.
  • Provide strategic consultation to executives, HR Business Partners, and business leaders on compensation decisions, organizational design, and Total Rewards strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to improve compensation processes, systems, and technology while driving automation and operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local compensation regulations, including pay transparency, wage and hour requirements, and emerging legislation.
  • Develop communication strategies and educational resources that help leaders confidently make compensation decisions.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, market data, and evolving Total Rewards practices to ensure Fleet Farm remains competitive.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for a collaborative leader who enjoys solving complex business challenges and influencing organizational strategy through data-driven decision making.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • Significant experience leading Compensation and/or Total Rewards programs within a complex, multi-location organization.
  • Expertise in compensation philosophy, market pricing, job evaluation, salary structures, incentive design, and pay equity.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen with the ability to interpret compensation data and develop strategic recommendations.
  • Experience partnering with executive leadership to influence compensation and workforce decisions.
  • Demonstrated success leading annual compensation planning, budgeting, and salary administration processes.
  • Knowledge of federal and state compensation regulations, compliance requirements, and emerging market trends.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience leading organizational change, process improvement, and HR technology initiatives.
  • Experience with HRIS and compensation systems; UKG experience is preferred.
  • Experience supporting retail, distribution, manufacturing, or other multi-location organizations is preferred.
