What are the responsibilities and job description for the Collections/Underwriting position at Fleet Capital?
The Underwriting & Collections Associate will help manage the loan process (origination, underwriting, collections (3rd party), etc.) while aligning the company to make consumer loans for semi-trucks within corporate and legal guidelines. This position is a performance based, hands-on, customer-focus role that is responsible for following the company’s underwriting and collection practices.
Associate is responsible for performing an active role in meeting all performance goals and metrics as defined by management. To do so, this position requires attention to detail, ability to multitask, resolve customer issues and excellent communication skills. Job responsibilities are expected to be completed in a manner that complies with all federal and state regulations and adheres to company policies, procedures, and practices.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions:
- Build customer relationships
- Conduct customer interviews during the underwriting process
- Follow underwriting guidelines
- Ability to analyze credit reports
- Knowledge of loan documentation preparation
- Ensure all lending procedures comply with legal regulations and guidelines
- Resolve customer delinquency issues
- Process payments
- Minimize loss rates
- Manage repossessions
- Skip tracing
- Bankruptcy
- Monitor/process payments
- Work with repossession companies
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations for the industry
- Time management
Required Education, Skills & Abilities:
- 3 years of experience in the underwriting and collections field, preferably in the subprime consumer industry
- Effective communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interact with customers in a professional, tactful, and sensitive manner
- Extremely detail oriented and organized
- Strong analytical, interpersonal communication and writing skills
- Innovative and critical thinking with the ability to solve problems
- Available to work a flexible work schedule
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Degree preferred, but not required
