JOB TITLE: Forklift Driver - ProductionDEPARTMENT: ProductionFLSA: hourly-paid, non-exemptREPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor and/or Department ManagerShifts available 5:00am-1:30pmOBJECTIVE: Responsible for the safe operation of a forklift to move paper products to and from storage and machines in the production area.Essential FunctionsA) Responsible for the safe operation of a forklift to move paper products to and from storage and machines in the production area.B) Must respond timely to operators needs for raw materials and removal of finished goodsC) Reports hazards, defective materials and equipment problems to managementD) Accurately complete required paperworkE) Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition, free from hazardsF) Follows all safety rulesG) Requires the ability to sit to drive a forklift, including backwards, and stand and walk for a minimum 8-hour shift; work overtime, swing or night shift and weekendsH) Requires the ability to constantly lift, carry, push and pull 30 poundsI) Requires gas/ propane gas tanks changed and connect and disconnect batteriesOther DutiesA) Occasionally may be required to lift, carry, push and pull up to 30 poundsB) Participate in special projects as requiredReporting RelationshipA) Reports to the Production Supervisor or ManagerMinimum QualificationsA) High School Diploma or equivalentB) Ability to learn all aspects of safe forklift driving and material handlingC) Ability to learn and perform all essential functions and other duties, with or without reasonable accommodationD) Must be able to understand verbal and written directions and trainingE) Must be able to accurately complete required paperworkF) Requires the ability to sit to drive a forklift, including backwards, and stand and walk for a minimum 8-hour shiftG) Must be able to continuously lift, carry, push, pull a minimum of 30 poundsH) Ability to work well with people at all levels of the organizationPreferred QualificationsA) Prior experience as a forklift operatorB) Prior experience working in manufacturingC) Prior experience in paper manufacturingD) Bi-lingual English-SpanishDuties and Responsibilities: (not ranked by priority)A) Responsible for the safe operation of a forklift to move paper products to and from storage and machines in the production area.B) Must respond timely to operators needs for raw materials and removal of finished goodsJ) Reports defective materials and equipment problems to managementC) Accurately complete required paperworkD) Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition, free from hazardsE) Follows all safety rulesF) Perform routine janitorial and deep cleaningG) At all times keep work area clean and organizedH) Participate in special projects as requiredI) Be flexible responding to changing customer and production scheduling needs.J) At all times behave in a professional and courteous mannerK) Other duties as assignedPhysical Environment/Working ConditionsThis position is in the factory, where temperature fluctuations occur throughout the year and where employees must use eye and hearing protection and be cautious around equipment and forklifts.This job description is an overview of the position.
