Summary: The Maintenance Assistant Manager assists with overseeing and performing the day-to-day maintenance, upkeep, and repair of facilities and fleet owned and operated by Flathead Industries. This position supports the coordination of maintenance operations while performing hands-on field work to ensure facilities, grounds, and fleet are maintained in exceptional condition.
This role operates in a team-based environment and performs approximately 75% field-based, hands-on maintenance work and 25% office or administrative duties, including scheduling, documentation, coordination, and communication.
$25/hr
Schedule: M-F 8:00am – 4:00pm
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operations & Coordination (Assistant Manager Functions – ~25%)
- Assist with day-to-day operations of the Maintenance and Transportation Department.
- Assist with prioritizing, scheduling, and coordinating workflow.
- Support tracking and documentation of work orders and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Communicate effectively with leadership regarding project status.
- Participate in onboarding new systems and tools.
- Maintain professional relationships with facility managers, vendors, and contractors.
- Promote a healthy, safe, and cohesive team environment.
- Serve as a departmental point of contact in the absence of the Director, as assigned. Field & Maintenance Duties (~75%)
- Perform maintenance work orders according to specifications and codes.
- Plumbing, electrical, building, and HVAC maintenance and repairs.
- Plumbing Maintenance includes sink, faucet, toilet installation and repair.
- Electrical Maintenance includes installing and repairing light switches, electrical outlets, and light fixtures.
- Building maintenance and construction repair includes drywall repair and installation, door and door lock repair and installation, interior and exterior painting, screen and window cleaning, gutter cleaning and repair, maintenance of heating and cooling systems.
- Performs routine year-round ground maintenance including raking, mowing, and landscape upkeep.
- Participates in snow removal functions to ensure safe entrance and egress of Flathead Industries properties.
- Participate in on-call rotation.
- Occasional travel between Flathead Industries’ locations is required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to pass criminal and other background checks.
- Ability to successfully perform all responsibilities shown above.
- This position requires education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma, and completion of occupationally specific training; and two years' experience in the maintenance field.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional, effective, harmonious, working relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all stakeholders, including but not limited to staff, consumers, family members, customers, vendors and other community members.
- Ability to process information and effectively utilize necessary computer software.
- Ability to write professional, reports and business correspondence; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a variety of individuals, showing strong written and verbal skills.
- Ability to show critical thinking and positive decision-making skills.
- Ability to safely and frequently lift, move or otherwise handle items weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Possession of a current Montana driver’s license.
- Ability to meet requirements in order to be covered by company vehicle insurance.
