Flat Roof Coating Roof Mechanic / Applicator

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Flat Roof Coating Roof Mechanic to join our commercial roofing team. This hands-on position focuses on the preparation, repair, and application of high-performance roof coating systems (silicone, acrylic, polyurethane, elastomeric, and similar fluid-applied coatings) on flat and low-slope commercial roofs. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills in surface preparation, coating application, and quality workmanship while maintaining strict safety standards.

Responsibilities

• nspect flat and low-slope roofs to identify damage, leaks, ponding, and coating suitability
• Prepare roof surfaces thoroughly: clean, repair, patch, seal cracks, install detail mesh/fabric, and prime as required
• Apply roof coating systems using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment to manufacturer specifications (proper mil thickness, coverage rates, and curing)
• Perform minor-to-moderate roof repairs (flashing, seams, penetrations, drains) prior to coating
• Work with common commercial roof systems including TPO, EPDM, modified bitumen, BUR, metal, and concrete decks
• Operate and maintain spray equipment, pumps, tools, and safety gear
• Follow all OSHA safety protocols, including fall protection, and maintain a clean, organized job site
• Document daily work, material usage, and any issues; communicate progress to the foreman
• Collaborate with the crew to complete projects on schedule and to high quality standards.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of hands-on experience in commercial flat/low-slope roofing, waterproofing, or roof coating application (preferred)
• Knowledge of coating systems, surface preparation techniques, and proper application methods
• Ability to work safely at heights, on ladders/scaffolding, and in varying weather conditions
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, kneel, climb, and perform demanding outdoor work
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Strong attention to detail, work ethic, and commitment to quality
• Willingness to work as part of a team and follow directions
• Experience with spray application equipment and fluid-applied coatings
• Familiarity with manufacturer guidelines (e.g., silicone, acrylic, polyurethane systems)

Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
