What We’re Looking For
- Solid wine and spirits knowledge, especially California, French, and Italian wine, Bourbon, Scotch, and other major spirits categories
- Friendly, enthusiastic customer service
- Strong communication skills and the ability to make thoughtful product recommendations
- Willingness to keep learning through tastings, reading, and training
- Reliability, professionalism, and the ability to work well as part of a small team
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service and assist customers promptly and politely
- Help customers choose wines and spirits that fit their needs, preferences, and budget
- Develop strong product knowledge across the bottles we stock
- Make informed recommendations with confidence and accuracy
- Participate in weekly tastings and ongoing education
- Write tasting notes and/or product reviews for items you order or help select
- Assist with general retail operations, including stocking, merchandising, POS transactions, and maintaining a clean, organized sales floor
- Support the team during busy periods, weekends, holidays, and special releases
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of wine and/or spirits sales experience
- Solid wine and spirits knowledge; you do not need to be a master sommelier, but you should understand key varietals, major regions, and important spirits categories
- Exceptional guest service skills
- Basic computer and POS system skills
- Ability to lift 35–50 lbs unaided
- Availability to work weekends as needed
