Our Evansville Operations location has an opening for a Panel Shop Foreman! The Panel Shop Foreman will guide the daily work flow of the Panel Shop. Assemble, wire, and troubleshoot complex and prototype panels. Install panels on customer sites. Assist with the repair of electrical components. Weld and/or assemble various pieces of complex equipment, controls and/or machinery. Create and fabricate from scratch using blueprints. Work on special projects dealing with highly complex welding, fabrication and/or assembly.
Primary Responsibilities:
Foreman
- Direct the daily shop work of the Panel Shop.
- Assist Controls Technicians and Fabricators with work.
- Communicate clearly and concisely while providing directions to employees.
- Ensure tools and equipment are available and in good working condition in order to work efficiently and effectively.
- Train Controls Technicians and Fabricators in various department positions.
- Act as the Coordinator in his/her absence.
- Assist Coordinator in managing department employees including providing performance feedback to Coordinator.
- Conduct performance corrective counseling in consultation with the department Coordinator and/or Human Resources as needed.
- Manage employees in the absence of the Coordinator.
- Foster good employee/management relations.
- Promote teamwork by exhibiting positive teamwork with employees.

- Controls
- Assemble complex and/or prototype control panels.
- Read and interpret electrical layout drawings and diagrams to determine appropriate panel layout and wire placement.
- Lay out enclosures, back panels, and components per drawings. Work with Engineer and Designer to correct issues with layouts and suggest improvements.
- Assemble and mount components to enclosure and back panels after approval.
- Print wire labels and create and engrave panel tags.
- Install and wire complex controls per detailed electrical instructions/drawings/schematics.
- Perform continuity and function tests of complex control panels to verify wiring. Work with Engineer Designer to correct issues that arise.
- Prepare finished assemblies for shipment including wrapping, packaging, and strapping to skids.
- Perform tests and repairs of drives, contactors, circuit breakers, encoders and tach generators. Record results.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Associates degree in electrical/electronic engineering technology or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Six years control panel/electrical and/or fabrication experience
- Strong working knowledge of electrical characteristics of materials and their applications
- Strong working knowledge of electrical symbols, and electrical components including their uses and applications
- Strong working knowledge of electrical test equipment including DMM's, Hipots, Meggar's, etc
- Strong working knowledge in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams and determining the appropriate materials to utilize based on their characteristics
- Knowledge of AC/DC motor control technology
- Ability to fabricate with few to no known concrete direction and with multiple variables
- Knowledge of wire and filler materials applications in addition to gasses used on various metal applications
- Good written and verbal communication skills

- Good knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office software
