Position Responsibilities
As a Lateral Litigation Attorney, you will independently manage a sophisticated litigation caseload from inception through resolution. Responsibilities include:
- Managing all phases of litigation, including pre-suit investigations, pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations, arbitrations, trials, and appeals as appropriate.
- Drafting and reviewing complex legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, settlement agreements, and correspondence.
- Conducting thorough legal research and developing strategic litigation approaches.
- Representing clients in court proceedings, depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials.
- Providing practical legal counsel and regular communication to clients throughout the litigation process.
- Collaborating with attorneys across multiple practice areas to develop innovative litigation strategies.
- Contributing to the continued growth of the firm through exceptional client service, business development, and professional networking.
Qualified candidates will possess:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the West Virginia State Bar (or the ability to obtain admission promptly).
- Significant litigation experience with demonstrated success handling complex matters.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Commercial Litigation
- Insurance Defense
- Product Liability
- Medical Malpractice
- Mass Litigation
- Other complex civil litigation
- Exceptional legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
- Experience managing all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, and dispositive motion practice.
- Strong organizational and case management skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys, staff, and clients.
