Summary of Function
The Field Service Technician II provides journey-level technical support for the district’s end-user technology. This role is responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer hardware, software, and mobile devices across multiple school sites. The Technician II acts as a primary point of contact for teachers and staff, ensuring a seamless technology experience in the classroom and administrative offices. This is a grant funded position with no guarantee of continued funding past June 30, 2028.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
Associates degree in Technology, CIS, or Computer Science - required
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Educational Technology or related field; equivalent combination of education- preferred
Three (3) years experience in repair and maintenance of Apple and Windows hardware in an networked environment - required
CompTIA A+, Apple Certified Mac Technician certifications - preferred
Proficiency in Mac OS X, iOS, and current Windows operating systems - preferred
familiarity with Apple Configurator and MDM environments recommended
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between district sites as needed - required
Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated ability in developing procedures, technical documentation, and support playbooks.
Demonstrated ability working across multiple levels of technical support and coordinating escalations or cross-team issue resolution.
Knowledge of customer service principles and best practices for IT service delivery.
Ability to analyze operational needs, identify problems, and implement effective solutions.

Duties and responsibilities
Mobile Device & iPad Management: Configure, support, and maintain Mobile Device Management (MDM) software (e.g., Apple Configurator, Jamf) for district iPads and iPad carts.
Apple & Windows Support: Provide comprehensive hardware and software support for Apple laptops (MacBooks), iOS devices, and Windows-based workstations.
System Deployment: Lead the setup, imaging, and deployment of certified staff laptops, lab computers, and office workstations using tools like Windows Deployment Services or Symantec Ghost.
Classroom Technology: Install and maintain peripheral technology including printers, scanners, voice amplification systems, document cameras, and interactive projectors.
Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and resolve complex hardware/software issues; replace internal components such as processors, sound/video cards, and hard drives.
Work Order Management: Respond to service calls via the district’s ticketing system, maintaining detailed daily logs and ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Staff Training: Provide technical assistance and informal training to teachers and staff on the use of new hardware and software applications.
Inventory & Documentation: Maintain accurate site documentation and conduct annual physical inventories of computer equipment.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Physical requirements
Work involves the performance of duties where physical exertion and movement is required to perform the aspects of the job. Assistance is available as required to perform physically demanding tasks.
Ability to stand and sit for extended periods; climb ladders; lift up to 50 pounds
Essential functions include: walking; working with and around other FUSD staff; managing interruptions; repetitive motion (hand‑wrist) for keyboarding; near vision acuity for monitoring screens; color vision for working with color‑coded cabling; hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; finger dexterity for keyboarding
Environmental hazards may include electrical hazards associated with computers, servers, and circuits, and potential for falls from ladders
Occasional night and weekend work for maintenance windows or urgent incidents
Equipment, Aids, Tools and Materials
Uses office equipment which includes but is not limited to: computers, video projectors, white boards, and office or instructional equipment.
