What are the responsibilities and job description for the Painter position at Flagler College?
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
To perform interior and exterior brush, roller, spray painting and window glazing to maintain buildings and parking areas in state of good repair.
- RESPONSIBILITIES: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs other tasks as assigned by Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
Prepares surfaces by pressure washing, scraping, sanding, using commercial paint removers, fill cracks and holes.
Determines equipment, material requirements and requisitions from approved suppliers.
Mixes or has supplier mix paints for desired colors.
Erects baker scaffold, ladders and safety barriers in line with Safety procedures, covers floors and furnishings to provide adequate protection.
Paints lines or symbols on floors and parking lots as required.
Records time involved on work order to complete requests.
QUALIFICATIONS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to comprehend oral and written instructions
Willingness to wear safety equipment as needed and practice safety precautions appropriately
Valid State driver license and ability to operate college vehicles
CHARACTERISTICS PREFERRED:
Customer Service and organizational skills
Satisfactory work record and attendance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma
Previous painting employment with detail on painting skills
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Heavy work: exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly.
Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping and repetitive motions.
