Flagger Force, an industry leader in traffic control, is currently hiring a Safety Manager for our Northern market. The candidate should be within a reasonable commute to our Hummelstown, PA office.
The Safety Manager position is responsible for organizational Safety defined as establishing and managing safety best practices, directing the Safety Advocate team, and collaborating with Quality Control to integrate safety into work zone best practices, while acting in accordance with company values, vision and mission.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manages a team of Safety Supervisors, Professionals and Advocates
- Direct work to at least two or more other full-time employees
- Has the authority to hire and fire other employees
- Establish and build relationships with direct reports through monthly performance reviews, discussing disciplinary procedures, and team development
- Develop, implement, and oversee fleet safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., DOT, OSHA)
- Monitor driver performance using telematics/GPS data and implement coaching or disciplinary measures as needed.
- Develop and implement coaching and corrective active programs for non-professional drivers
- Partner with operations and field management to reinforce safe vehicle use and accountability
- Responsible for conducting annual performance review and supporting employee development
- Collaborate with Quality Manager to advise and provide direction on safety related training programs to ensure effectiveness and efficiency while maintaining best practices and high standards
- Communicate safety information to all relevant organizational departments, outside vendors, or contractors
- Collaborate with Field Management to identify, investigate, and report required claims information to assure a timely communication and process flow to insurance carriers
- Responsible for incident management with clients including proper and timely communication
- Provide appropriate reporting to Field and Senior Management, including: DART, OSHA, audit results, observation results and incidents
- Responsible for the content development for quarterly Safety meetings
- Collaborate with Training Manager on new policies and procedures associated with safety
- Must communicate organizationally regarding timing/scheduling of seminars as well as requests for content from other departments presenting information
- Remain abreast and communicate all local, state and federal safety guidelines, policies and standards
- Manage corporate facility inspections including safety, fire and emergency procedures
- 20% of time spent on work sites conducting observations
- Oversee the addition of safety related items on the gear store. Includes research, field testing, price negotiation.
- Other duties as assigned by VP or AVP of Risk & Safety
- Maintain valid internal training certifications through Flagger Force Academy

- A bachelor's degree in OSHA, Safety or another related field required
- Experience managing fleet safety programs
- One (1) year(s) experience with Flagger Force and/or similar traffic control knowledge
- Fleet safety experience with light-duty vehicles (vans, pickup trucks, SUVs, box trucks, etc)
- Strong verbal, written, analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
- Developed leadership skills including conflict resolution, and ability to coach and train people and teams
- Ability to positively influence people and situations in a fast-paced environment and build trust and support optimal outcomes
- Ability to adapt quickly and manage time effectively
- Ability to manage high stress scenarios and environments
Preferred Education And Experience
- 5 years of prior management experience preferred
