Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: Holy Cross is seeking a Physical Therapist with a clinical interest in Pelvic Rehab/Women's Health to join our team. An interest in Men's Health is needed also. This is an excellent career opportunity for a physical therapist to join our established Women's and Men's Health program at the Holy Cross Healthplex Center with opportunities to work along side nationally renowned physicians. Our perfect candidate for the staff PT position will have clinical experience treating Women's Health and Pelvic Rehab cases and completion of Pelvic Floor Level 1 & 2 training thru the APTA Women’s Health Section or Herman & Wallace. Those who have completed a Level 1 Pelvic Rehab course and have had clinical experience are also welcome to apply. Purpose: A pelvic physical therapist specializes in treating conditions related to the pelvic floor muscles and surrounding areas. They use various techniques to address pain, dysfunction, and improve overall pelvic health. This includes exercises, manual therapy, and other modalities to help with bladder and bowel control, sexual function, and pain management. What you will do: 1. Evaluation and Assessment: Physical Examination: . This includes an external exam of posture, joint alignment, and strength, as well as an internal exam (if appropriate) to assess the pelvic floor muscles. Bladder and Bowel Habits: . They may assess your bladder and bowel habits to identify potential issues. Medical History: . Pelvic floor therapists gather information about your medical history, symptoms, and treatment goals. 2. Treatment Techniques: Exercises: Pelvic floor physical therapists teach exercises to strengthen or relax the pelvic floor muscles, improve coordination, and increase flexibility. Manual Therapy: They may use manual techniques like soft tissue mobilization, trigger point release, or visceral manipulation to address muscle tension, joint restrictions, and improve mobility. Biofeedback: This technique uses sensors to help patients visualize and improve their muscle contractions. Electrical Stimulation: Gentle electrical current can be used to improve muscle function. Education and Lifestyle Modifications: They provide guidance on posture, breathing techniques, and other lifestyle factors that can affect pelvic floor function. Behavior Modifications: They help patients manage bladder and bowel habits and address other factors contributing to their condition. Job Requirements: Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy is required. Clinical experience treating Women's Health and Pelvic Rehab cases and completion of Pelvic Floor Level 1 & 2 training thru the APTA Women’s Health Section or Herman & Wallace. Those who have completed a Level 1 Pelvic Rehab course and have had clinical experience are also welcome to apply.
