Fjord Fish Market is a growth focused, six-unit retail and wholesale seafood company looking to take advantage of opportunities in a fragmented and outdated seafood landscape. We are looking for an energetic, strategic, and tech-forward VP of Operations to join our leadership team. With a vertically integrated wholesale division based in the Fulton Fish Market, this is an opportunity for a driven operator to help scale a dynamic, multi-unit business from a strong foundation.
The Vice President of Operations (VP of Ops) is a senior leadership role responsible for scaling, standardizing, and strengthening Fjord’s multi-unit operations. This individual oversees the performance of all retail locations, central production functions (including Distribution and Central Kitchen), and ensures that Fjord’s operating systems, teams, and customer experiences scale with the business.
The VP of Ops will oversee department heads, district managers, and GMs, collaborating with Finance, HR, Culinary, and Technology to ensure strong financial performance, operational consistency, and excellent guest experiences across all Fjord businesses.
Core Responsibilities:
Leadership & Culture
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of District Managers and department heads (e.g., Central Kitchen, Distribution, Catering)
• Build a values-driven culture rooted in accountability, transparency, and collaboration
• Champion internal communication across departments and stores
• Ensure consistent onboarding and training programs are in place to support role clarity, operational standards, and long-term development
Operations Strategy & Execution
• Own end-to-end operational performance across retail, distribution, production, and service
• Set and maintain standards for execution, cleanliness, product quality, and customer service across all locations
• Lead operational expansion efforts including new store openings and remodels
• Partner with HR and Store Support to scale training systems and ensure onboarding is consistent, efficient, and reflective of company values
• Drive systematization across workflows, scheduling, ordering, and reporting
Financial Management
• Partner with Finance to build annual budgets and deliver against P&L targets
• Analyze labor, sales, waste, and other key drivers to identify opportunities and reduce costs
• Oversee purchasing and inventory strategies in collaboration with Distribution and Culinary
Qualifications / Requirements:
• 7–10 years in senior operations roles, including multi-unit or regional leadership (retail or food preferred)
• Proven track record of building and scaling systems across locations
• Experience leading large teams, including middle managers and hourly staff
• Strong communicator, cross-functional collaborator, and culture-builder
• Willingness to travel frequently and maintain a strong field presence
• ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification required (or willingness to obtain)

• Operational KPIs (sales, labor, shrink, waste) consistently meet or exceed plan
• Strong team retention, leadership development, and succession planning
