What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automotive Service Advisor position at Fixit Tim's Automotive?
Automotive Service Advisor (Part-Time → Full-Time Growth)
Fixit Tim’s Automotive – Lone Jack / Kingsville, MO
About Fixit Tim’s Automotive
Fixit Tim’s isn’t a typical auto shop — we’re a tribe. A small, tight-knit, integrity-driven team committed to doing things the right way, treating people with respect, and building leaders from the ground up. We’re growing fast, and we’re looking for someone who wants to grow with us.
We operate out of a home-based shop while we work toward securing a commercial facility. Because of this, you must be comfortable working around friendly dogs, as several are present on the property daily.
This is a unique opportunity to join early, help shape the customer experience, and become a foundational part of the business as we scale.
If you value honesty, leadership, teamwork, and craftsmanship — you’ll fit right in.
Position Overview
We’re hiring an Automotive Service Advisor who can communicate clearly, build trust with customers, and help guide them through repair decisions with transparency and integrity. You don’t need to be a master technician, but you do need enough technical understanding to explain repairs, answer questions, and recommend services confidently and ethically.
This role starts part-time, with a clear path to full-time as the shop continues to grow.
You’ll be the voice of the business — the first impression, the trusted guide, and the person who keeps the workflow moving smoothly.
What You’ll Do
Customer Communication & Service
- Greet customers with professionalism and genuine care
- Explain diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance in clear, simple terms
- Build trust through honesty, transparency, and ethical recommendations
- Provide repair options without pressure or upselling tactics
- Maintain a calm, respectful tone — even when customers are stressed
Scheduling & Workflow
- Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage the shop calendar
- Coordinate with the technician to ensure accurate timelines
- Keep customers updated throughout the repair process
- Help streamline communication so the owner and accountant can focus on their roles
Sales & Recommendations (Ethical Only)
- Recommend services based on actual vehicle needs
- Present good/better/best options when appropriate
- Never push unnecessary work — integrity over income
- Help customers understand long-term maintenance planning
Administrative & Support Tasks
- Create and update repair orders
- Document customer concerns accurately
- Handle payments and invoicing
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace
- Support the team wherever needed — we all pitch in
What We’re Looking For
Must-Have Qualities
- Strong communication skills
- Technical understanding of automotive systems (or willingness to learn fast)
- High integrity — honesty is non-negotiable
- Calm, professional, and customer-focused
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Able to work independently and take ownership
- Comfortable in a small, growing business environment
- Comfortable working around multiple friendly dogs in a home-based shop setting
Culture Fit (Based on Our Core Values)
You’ll thrive here if you naturally:
- Own It — You take responsibility and solve problems proactively
- Create Value — You go the extra mile for customers and teammates
- Are Honest — You tell the truth, even when it’s hard
- Fix It Right — You care about quality and accuracy
- Put Team First — You support, teach, and uplift others
- Keep Growing — You want to improve every week
If these values feel like home, you’ll love working here.
Compensation & Benefits
