The Auto Glass / Flat Glass Technician – Trainee supports experienced technicians in the repair, replacement, cutting, and installation of automotive and flat glass products. This role assists with auto glass repairs and replacements as well as residential and commercial flat glass installations, using proper tools and methods to ensure high‑quality workmanship while adhering to all Speedy Glass (Fix Network) safety policies and procedures.
Under the guidance of management and senior technicians, the trainee will develop skills related to glass removal, preparation, cutting, installation, and finishing while maintaining a clean and safe work environment and delivering excellent customer service.

Job Duties
Auto Glass Support Duties
- Assist Auto Glass Technicians with windshield and vehicle glass repair and replacement.
- Support damage assessments prior to glass installation.
- Remove dirt, foreign matter, and loose glass from vehicles prior to installation.
- Prime scratches and prepare surfaces according to procedures.
- Inspect new glass for defects before removing damaged glass.
- Replace moldings, clips, windshield wipers, and other components removed during service.
- Replace or adjust motorized or manual window mechanisms.
- Ensure the vehicle’s appearance meets quality standards after installation.
- Assist with the installation and repair of residential glass, including insulated glass units, single‑pane glass, windows, patio doors, mirrors, shower enclosures, skylights, tabletops, railings, and screens.
- Support commercial glass installation and repair, including storefront systems, glass entry doors, door hardware (closers, thresholds, sweeps, locking mechanisms), and glazing systems.
- Assist in cutting flat safety glass, mirrors, picture frame glass, plexiglass, lexan, Neo Ceram fireplace glass, and screen materials to specified patterns.
- Support precision pattern making and custom glass fitting.
- Assist with installation of vinyl windows, shower enclosures, and custom mirrors at customer job sites.
- Rebuild and replace screen units as needed.
- Help maintain the appearance of customer products following installation.
- Additional duties as assigned by management.
- High School or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to lift 75lbs periodically, 35lbs routinely and occasionally lifting/holding above one’s head and from elevated job sites
- Ability to take direction and follow procedures
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
