Job Summary / Objective

In this role, the Automated CNC Programmer/ Operator will program, set up, operate, and maintain CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines to manufacture high-precision components according to engineering specification. They will need to ensure the production of quality parts using various inspection equipment to ensure each part meets the required criteria.
Summary
Main Tasks / Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creating programs and making edits using geometric code or g-code
  • Set up CNC machines, including loading raw materials, securing workpieces, and selecting appropriate tooling.
  • Ensure CNC machines operate within specified tolerances and quality standards.
  • Monitor machine operations, adjust as needed to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of machined parts to verify conformance to design specifications.
  • Verification of CNC machined parts; inspect tool geometry using various measuring tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines and tools to ensure optimal performance.
  • Identify and replace worn or defective tooling to prevent production delays and maintain quality standards.
  • Maintain wheel usage records, tooling inventory, and production reports.
  • Document any changes made to CNC programs or machining processes.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous CNC experience preferred, including mills & lathes
  • 3 year machining experience preferred.
  • Programming experience in Geometric Code

Required Skills/ Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision in executing machining tasks.
  • Experience working with tight tolerance parts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently with minimal guidance, as well as in a team setting.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary for developing positive working relationships with other employees, management and outside contractors.
  • Some daily and weekend overtime may be required.

Position Type, Expected Work Hours and Travel

Non-Exempt – FT
Onsite, Monday – Friday, some weekends
PPE: Safety glasses

Must be physically able to use hands, fingers and manual dexterities, handle, or feel; and see, talk or hear. Precise hand-eye coordination for handling small tools, adjusting machine controls, and performing fine adjustments to workpieces.

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift, carry and/or move up to 10 pounds and regularly lift, carry and/or move raw metal stock and finished components. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and good hand eye coordination. Capability to perform repetitive tasks, such as loading and unloading materials, adjusting machine settings, and inspecting multiple parts.
