In this role, the Lathe operator will set up, operate, and utilize lathe machines to manufacture high-precision components according to engineering specifications. The Lathe Operator will need to ensure the production of quality parts using various inspection equipment to ensure each part meets the required criteria.
Summary
Main Tasks / Responsibilities
- Set up CNC & manual lathe machinery, including loading raw materials, programming machinery, etc. to produce parts
- Utilize G M coding to program machines to manufacture parts according to blueprints
- Ensure finished parts are made to specified tolerances and quality standards by utilizing gages and other measurement devices
- Conduct thorough inspections of machined parts to verify conformance to design specifications.
- Conduct machining operations including drilling, milling, turning, and grinding
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and tools to ensure optimal performance.
- Identify and replace worn or defective tooling to prevent production delays and maintain quality standards.
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3-5 years of lathe operation experience required, can include some milling experience
- G & M coding experience required
- Omniturn or swiss type lathe experience a plus
Required Skills/Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with shop math principles and basic trigonometry
- Excellent attention to detail and precision in executing machining tasks.
- Experience working with G M code to ensure precise tooling is manufactured
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently with minimal guidance, as well as in a team setting.
- Interpersonal skills necessary for developing positive working relationships with other employees, management and outside contractors.
- Some daily and weekend overtime may be required.

Capability to perform repetitive tasks, such as loading and unloading materials, adjusting machine settings, and inspecting multiple parts.
