Assistant Designer - Five the Label (Five Dancewear)
Starting Pay $18-$20/per hour
Full Time M-F 35-40 hours
In-House: Draper, Utah
About the Role
As an Assistant Designer at Five the Label, reporting directly to the Head Designer, you will support the design and development of performance dancewear from concept through production. You will work closely with the Head Designer, Production, and Technical Design teams to translate fashion trends and functional performance needs into thoughtfully designed products for a customer base deeply rooted in the dance community. Responsibilities include assisting in line development, preparing and revising sketches, rendering colorways, and supporting basic product specifications throughout the development process.
What You’ll Do
- Assist the Head Designer in developing concepts and sketches for seasonal product lines and present design ideas to internal leadership and cross-functional partners.
- Collaborate closely with Merchandising, Production, Technical Design, Sample Makers, and Factories to ensure a seamless process from concept through final production.
- Partner with Technical Design to create and maintain accurate tech packs, clearly communicating design intent, fit, and construction details to ensure quality execution.
- Create and revise adopted flat sketches for handoff to the Design and Production teams.
- Collaborate on color direction for upcoming orders and build accurate colorways to support Purchase Orders and production needs.
- Participate in fittings and product reviews with the Head Designer, incorporating feedback and making revisions as needed.
- Ask thoughtful questions and actively seek feedback to continuously improve designs and processes.
- Help manage design documentation and organization to keep projects on track and on deadline.
Who You Are
- Associate's degree in Fashion Design, Textiles, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment while managing multiple collections and development timelines.
- Strong sense of style, color, and proportion, with the ability to translate trends through the lens of the Five brand and the dance customer.
- Solid understanding of silhouette, fit, fabrication, garment construction, sewing techniques, and trim.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Google Sheets.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to recognize and resolve inconsistencies in data, samples, or specifications.
- Experience with dancewear or performance apparel preferred, but not required.
