Work Environment
This is an on-site position within a luxury hotel or resort property, where Five-Star AudioVisual operates as an embedded partner. Our close collaboration with hotel and event teams ensures a seamless experience for guests and clients. Team members represent both Five-Star AudioVisual and our hospitality partners with professionalism, expertise, and care.

Position Overview
The Director of Operations oversees the on-site audiovisual department within a luxury hotel or resort environment. This role ensures flawless daily operations, exceptional guest service, and alignment with both Five-Star and hotel standards. The Director leads all AV operations, staff management, scheduling, and client relations, ensuring efficient execution, profitability, and a strong partnership with property leadership.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee and manage daily AV operations, ensuring seamless execution of all events and a consistent high level of service delivery.

Lead and mentor a team of AV professionals, providing regular training, performance feedback, and opportunities for professional growth.

Develop and manage department scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage and efficiency across all shifts and events.

Partner closely with hotel leadership and the Director of Event Production to maintain operational alignment and client satisfaction.

Drive achievement of budgeted revenue, rental, and profitability goals.

Manage and maintain accurate equipment inventories, ensuring proper control, maintenance, and documentation.

Coordinate with other Five-Star locations to share resources, subrent, or transfer gear as needed to support large-scale or specialized events.

Oversee and maintain the safe and effective use of rigging systems; prior rigging knowledge or certification is strongly preferred.

Implement and uphold Five-Star’s policies, procedures, and service standards.

Monitor competition and market trends to ensure the property remains a leader in AV technology and service delivery.

Maintain a professional image and uphold Five-Star’s culture of integrity, service, and excellence.

Qualifications:
Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience in the audiovisual or event technology industry.

Proven leadership experience overseeing AV operations within a hospitality, hotel, or event environment.

Strong team leadership and mentoring skills, with a focus on staff development and retention.

Excellent organizational skills with experience in scheduling and logistics management.

Working knowledge of rigging safety and systems preferred.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and make effective decisions under pressure.

Proficiency with business and inventory management systems.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.

AV certification or related technical coursework preferred.
Technical Expertise

Audio: Microphones, speakers, sound systems, channel mixers

Video: LCD, LED, projectors, screens, monitors

Lighting: GOBO, gels, uplighting, stage lighting, and control systems

Rigging: Basic understanding of safe rigging practices and load management preferred
