Head Start Teacher

Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Head Start Teacher to inspire and nurture young children in a dynamic early childhood education environment. In this role, you will create engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans that foster growth in literacy, math, social-emotional skills, and physical development. Duties

• Develop and implement comprehensive curriculum plans aligned with early childhood education standards, including Montessori methods if applicable
• Facilitate engaging classroom activities that promote literacy education, math skills, physical education, and social-emotional development
• Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management strategies while creating a nurturing environment
• Conduct ongoing child development assessments to monitor progress and tailor instruction accordingly
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about their child's progress, milestones, and any concerns
• Ensure compliance with mandated reporting laws and maintain accurate records of student attendance and development
• Incorporate special education strategies and early intervention techniques to support children with diverse learning needs
• Maintain a safe classroom environment by adhering to health and safety protocols including first aid and CPR certification
• Collaborate with colleagues on lesson planning, classroom management techniques, and curriculum enhancements
• Engage in ongoing professional development related to childhood development, preschool teaching methods, and innovative educational practices

Experience

• Proven experience working with children in early childhood or preschool settings, preferably within Head Start or similar programs
• Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development across various domains such as literacy, math, physical education, and social-emotional learning
• Experience implementing classroom management strategies that foster positive behavior and engagement
• Knowledge of special education principles, early intervention strategies, and childhood developmental milestones
• Familiarity with standardized testing procedures for young children and assessment tools for monitoring progress
• Prior experience working with diverse populations of children including toddlers and preschoolers is highly desirable
• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with families, team members, and community partners
• Certification in first aid and CPR is required; ongoing training in child welfare practices is preferred
