What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President / Senior Associate position at Five Points Capital?
Founded in 1997, Five Points Capital is a leading junior capital and private credit investment firm focused on supporting the growth of lower middle market companies. With a long-standing commitment to partnership, value creation, and responsible investing, we provide flexible capital solutions to management teams and sponsors across the U.S. We provide debt and equity co-investment, including unitranche, first-out/last-out unitranche, and mezzanine loans, as well as significant equity co-investments alongside investment partners.
The Vice President / Senior Associate will lead targeted sourcing efforts, transaction evaluation/execution, and portfolio monitoring. This individual will be responsible for cultivating relationships with sponsors, independent sponsors, lending partners, intermediaries and management teams. Working in three-person deal teams including Managing Partner/Partner and an Associate.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop new sourcing relationships and manage existing firm relationships within certain geographies, including sponsors, independent sponsors, lending partners and intermediaries.
- Represent the firm at marketing events and conferences, and in-person meetings in targeted geographies.
- Work with the marketing team to create email campaigns and plan in-person marketing events.
Lead deal evaluation and execution.
- Manage Associate development of internal presentation materials and models for the investment committee.
- Prepare and negotiate term sheets with respective parties.
- Perform internal and external due diligence and analysis.
- Manage the legal documentation and transaction closing process.
Portfolio monitoring.
- Track monthly progress of portfolio companies, including update calls with sponsors or management teams; working with Associates to perform any financial analysis to understand trends and report out to broader team.
- Serve on company boards as a firm representative, where applicable.
- Lead quarterly portfolio company valuation process for each of your respective portfolio companies with the help of Associates.
Professional development of Associates.
- Mentorship of Associates with regular feedback regarding their performance and areas for development/improvement.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of principal investing experience in junior capital/mezzanine, private credit, or private equity investing.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to lead deal teams and transactions, while building trust and rapport with sponsors and management teams.
- This position requires strong analytical and organizational skills, and the ability to think creatively with respect to overall strategy, tactics, marketing, and process.
- Self-starter with strong work ethic and a high degree of initiative and professionalism, including the ability to multi-task, be resourceful and results oriented.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred but not required.
