What are the responsibilities and job description for the Loan Officer position at FIVE POINTS BANK?
We are seeking a Loan officer to be responsible for developing and generating new loans, underwriting, structuring, and closing of loans, as well as maintaining and servicing an existing portfolio with assistance of senior loan officer. Represent the bank in local community through active participation in community affairs and participates in marketing all of the bank’s products and services.
Essential Functions:
- Build loan portfolio and ensure proper risk ratings and early identification of potential problems.
- Call on prospects of businesses for future growth
- Approve loans within specified limits or recommend for approval of loan committee
- Administer their loan portfolio in compliance within internal and regulatory guidelines while accurately assessing the quality of the loans.
- Support the bank’s strong relationship-banking culture through on-going customer contact, quality customer service, and superior product knowledge.
- Meet with applicants to obtain information for loan applications and to answer questions about the process.
- Analyze applicant’s financial status, credit, and assets to determine feasibility of granting loans.
- Perform in-house real estate valuations and review appraisals.
- Obtain and compile copies of loan applicants’ credit histories, financial statements, and other financial information.
- Educate customers on different types of loans and credit products that are available, as well as the terms of those services.
- Prepare and mail denial letter and/or meet and discuss why applicants did not qualify
- Develop strong referral network within the bank’s trade area.
- Monitor interest rate fluctuations to provide most attractive terms to present clients and prospects while keeping the bank’s best interest in mind.
- Represent the bank in community activities by participating in community affairs
- Cross-selling loan customers on other bank products
- All other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Experience:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Good computer skills in Excel and Word.
- Formal Banking Training (i.e. Graduate School of Banking)
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Self-motivated.
- Sound judgment skills.
Education/Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics or years of work experience.
- State of Nebraska Officers License
- 5 years of banking experience
Status/Standard Schedule:
Salary position. Schedule is 40 hours per week and any additional hours needed for business needs.
