What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parent Partner - DMH Billing position at Five Acres?

Essential Duties 

Depending upon specific program, assignment may perform any or all of the following:

  1. Acts as a liaison between Five Acres' clinicians, nursing, school staff, Wraparound staff, community services and families and children to ensure a smooth transition into Five Acres programs, including out-of-home placement.
  2. Participates in identifying and addressing clients' needs and treatment planning; makes recommendations for action to supervisors and treatment team members; advocates for and responds appropriately to needs and barriers using appropriate problem-solving models.
  3. Complies with productivity standards of the Agency and maintains an appropriate caseload to reach the budgeted daily expectation of billable hours. (refer to Productivity Policy)
  4. Submits timely documentation (progress notes, assessments, treatment plans, notes to chart) as outlined in policy and measured via productivity reports (refer to Progress/Case Note Submission Policy).
  5. Facilitates linking clients with appropriate community services; follows-up, consults and collaborates with community agencies to ensure clients receive appropriate services.
  6. Leads/Co-leads parent groups (support or educational) for current and discharged families.
  7. Attends and participates in treatment planning meetings, court review hearings, team decision-making, IEP and other meetings to provide support and information to the teams and the families.
  8. Reaches out to families in order to best meet the needs of clients including visiting families' homes and initiating contacts with families as soon as a client is placed; provides information and follows up on questions to allay families' concerns and provide support; links clients and caretakers to community services as appropriate and helps them make and keep appointments with those services.
  9. Contributes to individual and group counseling providing education, consultation and other needed services.
  10. Continually models appropriate problem-solving methods and parenting skills to assist parents in working with children.
  11. Initiate family finding and engagement practices upon placement to assist the child in identifying, developing and maintaining important relationships, provided that these relationships are in the child's best interests and are consistent with COUNTY Case Plan. (STRTP Program Only)
  12. Provides court ordered monitoring of visits between the children and family member(s); provides feedback regarding the visitation to the clinicians and other as needed. and completes the necessary documentation.
  13. Acts as a resource for families who are struggling during home visits and remains available to families by pager over the weekends; continues to serve as a resource to clients and their families after discharge from residential care.
  14. Maintains appropriate documentation in accordance with regulations, contracts and Agency policies, in an accurate and timely manner.
  15. Incorporates Agency philosophy and mission in all aspects of job description.
  16. Attends and participates in department staff, supervision, support, in-service programs, consultations and other Agency meetings as appropriate.
  17. Receives feedback with commitment to on-going refinement and professional growth.
  18. Maintains confidentiality regarding children, families and operations of the agency.
  19. Establishes professional goals and pursues opportunities to grow professionally
  20. Exercises good judgment in the performance of duties and responsibilities.
  21. Establishes and maintains rapport and effective working relationships with child(ren) and families and to works effectively within the Agency and social work community at large.

Qualifications

To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have:

  • Must have prior experience as a parent or legal guardian of a child who has been involved with the DCFS, probation, Regional Center, Department of Mental Health or similar.
  • At the time of hire, Parent Partners must not have an open case with probation or DCFS.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Must have a valid California Driver License, proof of automobile insurance and meet the Agency's safe driver guidelines.
  • Two (2) years of paid work experience in a mental health setting, preferred.
  • Knowledge of the juvenile court system is useful as is familiarity with DCFS reporting requirements; or the ability to learn same quickly and efficiently.
  • Coursework in social work, child development, psychology or related area; undergraduate degree in related area preferred.
  • Prior work experience in social services, ideally with severely emotionally disturbed children.
  • Effective communication skills both oral and written; bi-lingual skills in Spanish/English are preferred.
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a changing environment.
  • Ability to pass and utilize the Pro Act physical restraint system
  • Computer skills sufficient to meet production demands of the job including Microsoft Office and WELLIGENT software for program notes; and skill in maintaining accurate, detailed and complete records in a mental health environment.
  • Ability to work varied hours including evenings, nights and weekends
  • Sensitivity to the different cultures represented among the clients, families and staff
  • A basic understanding of age-appropriate behavior for children/adolescents
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures of the Agency
  • Ability to model positive behaviors and Agency values
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills

Compensation Range: $19.38/hr - $28.67/hr
